Investing with heart and creating a legacy

Ilene Wallmueller and her husband Frank did not start the practice of investing until they were in their 40s when they met and married.

Over the course of their lives together, they have shared the same philosophy of working and saving so they could plan for their future but also share their resources with others. “We did this through charitable giving to the causes and people we felt needed it,” says Ilene.

The Wallmuellers wanted to ensure their investments were used wisely, which led to their decision to donate to the University of Rochester. Recently, they named the University in their will to provide lasting endowed scholarship support to future University of Rochester School of Nursing students.

Ilene says, “Helping others to pursue their dreams will impact not only their lives and lessen the financial costs of their education, but it will also impact the lives of many patients in the future. I only wish I had known about financial and estate planning when I was in the early stages of my career.”
