Dennis A. Clements III ’72M (MD) and his wife, Dr. Martha Ann Keels
Estate Plan and Outright Gifts—Better Care for Kids Today and a Healthier World Tomorrow
Pediatrician Dennis A. Clements III ’72M and his wife, pediatric dentist Martha Ann Keels—two health care professionals who are passionate about children’s health, especially those with special needs—have made testamentary and outright gifts that support training and patient care at the University’s School of Medicine and Dentistry and the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH).
Their bequest will establish the Dr. Dennis A. Clements III and Dr. Martha Ann Keels Student Support Fund, an endowed fund that will enable medical students to participate in educational, research, and clinical activities in countries with health disparities. “As a medical student, I was given the opportunity to go to Uganda. That experience was transformative,” said Dr. Clements, who serves as chief of Pediatric Primary Care at Duke Children’s Hospital. “We are pleased to be able to make these gifts. Using our will was easy and helped us accomplish our goals.”
The couple’s outright gift established the Dr. Dennis A. Clements III and Dr. Martha Ann Keels Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. The funds will allow renovations and technology updates to provide the very best training and care environment for EIOH residents and patients. Dr. Keels has provided dental care for children with special needs for more than 30 years and knows firsthand the medical challenges that these children and their families face.
